When Is Darlington Restaurant Week 2026?
📅 Friday 23 October – Friday 30 October 2026
📍 Restaurants across Darlington
Darlington Restaurant Week is a biannual event organised to showcase the variety of places to eat across the town.
The autumn event follows the February 2026 Restaurant Week and arrives at a particularly good time for a short break, falling around the October half-term period and immediately before Halloween.
The official Restaurant Week page currently says to stay tuned for menus, so participating restaurants and their individual 2026 offers are expected to be announced closer to the event.
What Is Darlington Restaurant Week?
The idea is simple: restaurants around Darlington create special Restaurant Week menus, fixed-price offers or other promotions to encourage people to try somewhere different.
It’s an opportunity to discover an independent restaurant you’ve walked past but never visited, return to an old favourite, or make an evening of it with dinner and an overnight stay in Darlington.
Previous Restaurant Weeks demonstrate just how varied Darlington’s food scene has become.
The February 2026 event featured restaurants offering everything from Indian and South Asian food to Italian, Spanish tapas, seafood and Asian fusion.
That means Restaurant Week isn’t centred around one particular type of food – it’s a celebration of eating out across Darlington.
What Restaurants Could Take Part?
The October 2026 participating restaurant list has not yet been fully announced, so it’s important to check the official listings closer to the event.
However, previous Darlington Restaurant Weeks have featured a wide range of restaurants including venues around Duke Street, Skinnergate, Houndgate, Crown Street and other parts of the town centre.
February’s event included restaurants such as Abu’s, Al Forno, Babul’s, Picco, Saltfish, Sol Tapas, Star of Bengal, Taipan and Tre Amici, among others.
Please note: previous participation doesn’t guarantee that a restaurant will take part in October 2026.
We’ll update this guide as the official October Restaurant Week menus are released.
Make a Foodie Weekend of It
Restaurant Week doesn’t have to mean just travelling into town for one meal.
If you’re visiting Darlington from elsewhere in County Durham, Teesside, North Yorkshire or further afield, it can be a great excuse for an autumn overnight break.
Arrive in Darlington, check into your accommodation, explore the town during the afternoon and then head into the centre for dinner.
The following morning, you could explore more of the area before heading home.
Darlington also has excellent rail connections, making it particularly convenient for visitors who don’t want to drive after an evening meal.
Things to Do During Your Restaurant Week Stay
There’s plenty to combine with your visit.
Railway enthusiasts can discover Darlington’s important railway heritage and visit Hopetown Darlington, while those looking for culture can see what’s showing at Darlington Hippodrome.
You can also explore the town centre, visit Darlington Market, walk through South Park or use Darlington as a base for exploring attractions across County Durham and the wider North East.
Restaurant Week also runs immediately into Halloween weekend, making 23–30 October an interesting period to plan a Darlington short break.
Couples Visiting Darlington
Restaurant Week is particularly well suited to couples looking for an affordable autumn night away.
Instead of simply booking a restaurant close to home, you could turn it into a mini break:
Dinner + Darlington + overnight accommodation + breakfast the following morning.
Choose one of the participating restaurants, explore a few of Darlington’s bars afterwards and stay locally rather than worrying about travelling home late.
Travelling to Darlington by Train
Darlington is particularly easy to reach by rail.
Darlington Station is on the East Coast Main Line, with connections towards destinations including London, York, Newcastle and Edinburgh as well as regional services.
From the station, Darlington town centre and many of its restaurants are within easy reach.
This makes Restaurant Week another useful reason to consider a car-free weekend break in Darlington.
